Tournament Information Host Organization

Established in 2005 by professional golfer Davis Love, III, the Davis Love Foundation contributes to the well-being and progress of society by supporting both national and community-based programs that focus on children and their families. Headquartered in St. Simons Island, GA, the private Foundation provides a positive and far-reaching vehicle for creative solutions to social ills that affect children and their families. The ambitious mission of the Davis Love Foundation is to help build a better future for vulnerable children and their families who are at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes. The Foundation provides grants and donations to community-based programs that focus on children and families in need.

In 2010, the Davis Love Foundation partnered with the PGA TOUR to become the Host Organization of The McGladrey Classic, an Official PGA TOUR Event.  The inaugural event occurred in October 2010 and currently holds a title sponsor contract with McGladrey, the fifth largest U.S. provider of assurance, tax and consulting services, through 2015. After two years of The McGladrey Classic almost $500,000 has been raised for children and families in need, with the bulk of those funds directly benefiting Special Olympics (National, State and Local) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia.

In 2011, the Davis Love Foundation added an additional fundraising element to The McGladrey Classic through a charity ticket program called Tix4Kids. Through this program, weekly and daily ticket purchasers can opt to have 50% of their ticket price go directly to one charity of their choice.  Charities are given an opportunity to apply for the program with applicants being narrowed down to a core group.  In 2011, 18 charities were selected to participate between Jacksonville, Savannah and the local community, and more than $40,000 was raised for their organizations making the inaugural program an astounding success!  The Tix4Kids program will continue in 2012 helping to benefit a number of children and family charities.

New for 2012, the Davis Love Foundation will have an additional fundraising element in conjunction with The McGladrey Classic called Birdies Fore Love.  Birdies Fore Love gives non-profit organizations an opportunity to raise funds for their charity through a no-cost program with 100% of funds raised going back to their organization.  Birdies Fore Love participants make a pledge for every birdie made at The McGladrey Classic during official tournament rounds.  Last year, 1,321 birdies were made, so a pledge of $0.01 would yield a donation of $13.21.  Participants will also have the flexibility to make a one-time donation (minimum $10) instead of a pledge per birdie and be eligible to participate in the birdies guessing program.  The McGladrey Classic will offer a grand prize for the ‘Guess the Birdies’ contest.  All participants that meet the minimum donation requirement are eligible to win by simply filling out a pledge form and guessing the total number of birdies that will take place during The McGladrey Classic.  Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are 100% tax deductible.  This program will allow supporters that are unable to attend The McGladrey Classic an opportunity to make donations to the charity they support and interact with the tournament by guessing how many birdies will be made.  Charitable participants for the 2012 program are currently being selected with the program projected to start in early May.

The Davis Love Foundation’s goal is to raise $500,000 for charity through proceeds from the 2012 McGladrey Classic.
