Darius Rucker Performs for Sellout Crowd

A special treat for golf fans at the 2011 McGladrey Classic Golf Tournament was a Wednesday evening concert by Darius Rucker. Threat of rain and a long day of golf could not prevent a sellout crowd from enjoying the music and the setting at the Sea Island Golf Club. Rucker, formerly lead singer and rhythm guitarist with the group “Hootie and the Blowfish,” gained fame in the pop/rock genre. Later, he pursued rhythm and blues, then country music, becoming the first African-American with a song at the top of the Hot Country Songs since Charley Pride in 1983. Fans (golf and country music alike) enjoyed the show.
