AJGA Brings Davis Love III Junior Open to Seaside Course
The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the Davis Love Foundation (DLF) will host the Davis Love III Junior Open at Sea Island Golf Club July 22 – 24, 2014. The 78-player field will play 54 holes on Seaside, the same course the pros play during The McGladrey Classic. The AJGA and The McGladrey Classic are both celebrating their fifth anniversary of playing in the Golden Isles.
Darius Rucker to Return in Concert “Live Under the Oaks” at 2014 McGladrey Classic
Platinum-selling and 2014 Grammy Country Single of the Year winner Darius Rucker will perform in the Golden Isles this October as part of The McGladrey Classic, an Official PGA TOUR FedExCup Event hosted by Davis Love III. Rucker will entertain fans with a concert Wednesday evening, October 22 “Live Under the Oaks” at Sea Island Golf Club. Rucker, a South Carolina native, is a music industry veteran and an avid golf fan. He first attained multi-platinum status as lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish. Now, in addition to maintaining his lead singer role, Rucker is a country solo superstar.
Davis Love Foundation Announces Jones Cup Champion Will Receive Invitation to Play in McGladrey Classic Beginning in 2015
The Davis Love Foundation, host organization of The McGladrey Classic, announced today that it will extend an invitation to play in the tournament to the winner of the Jones Cup Invitational. The first invitation will be given to the champion of the 2015 Jones Cup which will be played early next year at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia.
Volunteer Spotlight – Jeff Jones
Jeff Jones, a recipient of the Bob Smith Outstanding Volunteer Award, is a four year volunteer on the Walking Scorer Committee. He stepped in and helped anywhere that the Chairmen were short handed during the 2013 tournament. Due to the end of daylight savings time and the earlier onset of darkness, the committee had a number of schedule changes. Jeff stayed late and came in early multiple times to help call his fellow volunteers to let them know their new tee times.
